Grandpa Bill

She cannot get enough of her Grandpa Bill. Seeing him so seldom does not help either. She was so excited to have him visit. He won her over with a Tickle-Me Elmo doll too. When we were sitting together in church she told me that Grandpa Bill is SO cute. Even lately when we ask her who is coming over tonight to play with her (implying my sister Amanda is coming over) she will say Grandpa Bill. When we ask her who she would like to say family prayer at night time she will insist Grandpa Bill does. It is really funny how often she will use Grandpa Bill as her reply for so many random things. Jason and I continue to explain to her that Grandpa Bill will come visit again, she is quick to tell us that he is in Aa-awwa (Ottawa).

Needless to say he has a couple girls stealing his attention lately, and I do not think he minds :)

Feb 6th

While my mom was here we blessed Alivia. I have a lot more to record and especially photos to post from my mom's visit but I'll at least get some photos up from this VERY special day. I loved that my mom took pictures of me dressing her :)

A little Angel.

We were very happy to share this special day with many family and friends. Grandma Smith was there, Great Grandma and Grandma Bennion, Nana and Grandpa Lee, Bennion cousins, and all her Aunt's and Uncle on the Lee side and her two Aunties on my side + many more loved ones. She had a beautiful blessing, and I'm grateful to experience the joy that comes from having her in our family.

A Little OVER share!

Normally I would never want to blog on this topic BUT I know I will want to remind myself down the road how happy this day made me. Why? Well Alivia went poopoo today AFTER 9 WHOLE DAYS!!! I never thought I'd be SO over joyed changing a loaded diaper. In the past 4 or 5 weeks I think I have changed maybe 5-6 stinky diapers. Not what I ever expected but apparently it's completely normal with some babies that are breastfed. Many moms might think, "great, way less diapers and no blow-outs!" BUT let me tell you despite the fact she doesn't go #2 very often she sure has stinky gas to over compensate! Oh, Alivia... you are such a little lady :) xox

Recent Happenings in 2011

I have a lot to catch up, there will be some detailed posts to come but my life is SO busy with two babies. One is on the move more than ever and the other one is smiling and watching her big sister wreak havoc, wishing she could join in on the fun!

We had a great New Years. It was perfect for me in the sense I saw lots of friendly faces and had some good laughs, but was able to still take it easy with my brand new baby. We played some fun games and had lots of yummy food at my in laws house. Jenna and Cam came down from Edmonton and we joined most of our mutual married couple friends together to ring in the New Year. It really turned out great.

Since then Jason has been busy with school. I can't believe he graduates in a matter of weeks. We are trying to figure out what lies ahead for us. More school? Work? Moving? Who knows? I really wish I did! Being in limbo is our life story over and over again. He is a hard worker though and deserves much credit. As I was helping him get his resume together I realized very quickly how accomplished he is and how hard working he is. I am a lucky girl. I really am.

Brooklynn has been doing pretty good. We've managed to stay clear for the most part of flu season as there really were some nasty bugs floating around. The worst was an annoying head cold, but no fevers and that made me a little more relaxed. Her hair is finally long enough for me to squeeze in a teeny tiny ponytail, or two wee little pig tails. At first she hated me touching her hair but now she looks forward to it as long as she can sit on the counter and play with her toothbrush and running tap water. Not a bad trade for a mom who's been DYING to do that little girl's hair! She is such a smart cookie too. It amazes me how quick she is. She loves to sing (her favs include I love to See the Temple, You are My Sunshine, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Old MacDonald, and many more!) When I have to nurse Alivia it's been a great to keep occupied with lots of singing together. We climb into my bed and she rolls around requesting songs. She knows the alphabet perfectly and can count to 13 or 14 and then she just starts saying random #'s. I'm just so grateful that she loves to learn and is so curious. Another thing she is obsessed with are buckles, clips, and zippers. Nana thinks she has a little "engineer brain", I guess time will tell. Another milestone is that we got rid of the binky! That was very huge in itself and was soo much easier than I anticipated. What's on the horizon? Potty Training. We're going to wait a little bit longer though.

Alivia is growing like a weed, but in length not width. She is a totally different body type than Brooklynn was. She is very long and kinda slim but has a good layer of pudge to keep her warm. She is such a smiley baby. She is beautiful and has been such a joy in my life. I love to cuddle her and make her giggle. I don't want her to ever think that life hasn't been just as rewarding and exciting or full of love as it was with the first one. I just don't have enough time to blog about motherhood at this stage in life as I did with Brooklynn. Every baby is different and she has brought her own love and joy to share with me and I'm so grateful. She makes me want to do it all over again (when the time is right!) because she has made me so happy to be her mom. She discovered her hands recently and pulls her binky out so she can suck on them. She even got a little grip on her new Sophie giraffe that Grandpa Bill bought for her. She fits into 3 month and 6 month sleepers right now because she is so long. Jason's hoping she'll make a good bball player. I'm sure they both will.

As for me and my life? Well it has been so blessed and so tiring. I had my mom come out just over a month ago and she was here for 12 days. Bless her heart. She is a trooper. She got up with Brooklynn every morning and let me take naps whenever I wanted. She cooked lots of healthy food for us and was a great support when I needed her the most, ie: 3 & 4 am when Alivia had the worst colic and wouldn't stop crying. My mom slept on the couch with me and was the support I needed because I was losing my mind. I was lucky to have my dad come just over a week ago and that was great too. I love seeing him with my little girls. We were really spoiled while he was here too. I wish so badly they were closer but truly cherish opportunities to see them when I can.

I'll get some pictures up when I have more time but I have to run and try to sneak in a nap in.

Happy Valentines

I was spoiled this morning with breakfast in bed. I don't know how many things make you feel more spoiled than that. Brooklynn shared it with me as she played with her Kinder surprise toys, and sillybands. Jason was good to his girls :)

(I don't know why this picture wouldn't rotate) Jason made me yummy homemade strawberry pancakes, and scrambled eggs - he even brought me my vitamins!
Enjoying her sillybands.
She shared with Alivia too. What a great big sister!

My lovely Girls

I LOVE how much Brooklynn loves Alivia, and I can't wait until they can play and interact more with one another. I love embracing the girlyness and matchy-match outfits. My wonderful sister in-law got them these gorgeous skirts that her friend Anette makes. You can check her stuff out at www.ellagirlscloset.blogspot.com - she makes some REALLY cute stuff!

I can't get enough of how cute they looked, I wish I had more of Brooklynn strutting around but sometimes she doesn't like the camera and especially after 3 hours of church when she needs a nap... I got lots of Alivia though :)

Cute sister photos #1
# 2, and getting a little impatient...

She had had quite enough after those few photos, Sundays are hard with naps being pushed WAY too late into the afternoon.

Bye Bye Binty

Attempt #2 is underway to say "bye bye"... This won't be the easiest task for little Brooklynn to give up but she's a big girl and we're giving this another go. We tried back when she was 18 months but I didn't try very hard. I quickly caved when she wouldn't stop screaming the very first night of with drawl. At least we're able to reason with her these days, so I'm assuming it'll make it easier as we try to bribe her and stuff.
For some reason every time she gets Jason's attention she asks for her beloved "binty" (yes that's how she pronounces it, and us too now) He caves a lot more often than me and it drives me nuts that she has to cry for it in the middle of the day randomly for no reason, and it's really become a germ issue as she plays with it everywhere and drops it EVERYWHERE. I'm constantly scrubbing binkys with soap and hot water throughout the day.
Anyways she tried to pull another fast one on Jason this evening and just started crying for no reason and asking for a "binty". I was impressed when he went ahead and snipped the tip of the nipple off with a pair of scissors and gave it to her. It was HEARTBREAKING to see her reaction. She was devastated that her "binty" was broken. We even videotaped it and I was trying hard not to laugh at her ridiculous reaction but at the same time I did feel bad because she loves it so much.
Anyways tonight we put her to bed without it and we reasoned with her that it is broken and should go in the garbage and she agreed with us on that.
Another thing Brooklynn likes to go to bed with is a song. Every night she asks Jason or I to sing her the "temple" song. Usually she lays on her back looking at me with a plug in her mouth as I sing "I Love to See the Temple" to her, however tonight when I sang it to her she joined in! I had no idea she knew the words but how would I know? Silly girl always had her mouth full with a binty!
So needless to say it was a pleasant and yet heartwarming surprise to hear my happy little girl sing that precious primary song with me... then followed by about 10 minutes of screaming when I left the room. In my mind that's pretty awesome- way to go Brooklynn!
